v50.14 · v0.47.05 This article is about the current version of DF.Note that some content may still need to be updated. |
Emeralds (a green form of the mineral beryl), are precious gems, found in small clusters within schist, granite, and marble. A value of 40 makes them excellent trade goods or decorations.
If they do appear on the map, emeralds tend to be much more plentiful than all other gems of equal value; however, unlike those, emerald clusters never contain more valuable gem inclusions.
Due to the layers where they are found, they are often found in small clusters adjacent to the magma sea, leaving only 1 or 2 crystals far enough away from the magma to be mined.
This article or section contains minor spoilers. You may want to avoid reading it. |
Like all precious and rare gems, they may also make up part of the walls of unusual volcanic walls.
This article or section has been rated D for Dwarf. It may include witty humour, not-so-witty humour, bad humour, in-jokes, pop culture references, and references to the Bay12 forums. Don't believe everything you read, and if you miss some of the references, don't worry. It was inevitable. |
Some adventurers have been known to try to use emeralds as a form of currency, though most shopkeepers insist on coins (or simply bartering).
