Cassiterite is the ore that can be smelted into tin. This ore can also be smelted with malachite to create bronze.
Each embark region contains 19 veins of cassiterite, scattered throughout the mountainside.

Cassiterite is a required ingredient to make several types of metal alloy bars from ore at a smelter:
