The metalsmith's forge is a Template:L used by Template:L to turn Template:L Template:Ls into useful objects such as Template:Ls, Template:L, Template:L, Template:L, Template:L for Template:L equipment and Template:Ls, Template:Ls, and other Template:L. To build a forge, you must have gray stone blocks (light or dark stone blocks are not allowed) and an Template:L, which you receive during the first summer. All anvils are equally effective.
Workshop labors and skills
Several different types of items can be created at a metalsmith's forge, all using different skills but sharing the same labor.
- Template:L -- Template:Ls (excluding Template:Ls), Template:L components, Template:Ls, and Template:Ls
- Template:L -- Template:L
- Template:L -- Template:L, and everything in the "Other Objects" category (Template:Ls, Template:L, Template:Ls, Template:Lding, etc.) except anvils
- Template:L -- All Template:L except chains and animal traps; Template:Ls; Template:Ls
- Template:L -- Template:Ls (using the Crossbow-making labor)
- Template:L -- Template:Ls (using the Trapping labor)
Since all of the above skills (except for trapper and bowyer) are controlled by the same labor assignment, you may wish to set your workshop profiles (once the Template:L arrives) to restrict your metalsmiths to using only their best skills - for immigrant metalsmiths, you can accomplish this by training each one past Novice only in their desired skill (ideally by restricting the forge to only that dwarf) and then setting a minimum skill level of "Normal" once they are all suitably specialized. Keeping the Template:L out can be accomplished by further training them to Competent.
Weapons, trap components, and siege equipment
Template:Ls, Template:Ls, and Template:Ls are all forged using the Template:L skill. They can be forged from Template:L, Template:L, Template:L, Template:L, Template:L, or Template:L.
Weapons
All weapons require one bar of metal. The weapons that can be forged are:
- Template:L
- Template:L
- Template:L
- Template:L
- Template:L
- Template:L*
- Template:L*
- Template:L (a stack of 25 will be produced)
* Crossbows and picks cannot be made out of Template:L.
Trap components
All trap components require 2 bars of metal and can be made from Template:L, Template:L, Template:L, Template:L, or Template:L. The trap components that can be made are:
Siege equipment
There is only one piece of siege equipment that can be created at a forge: the Template:L, which requires 3 metal bars. These arrowheads must then be mated with a wooden Template:L at a Template:L to form a complete Template:L. It is also possible to make wood-only ballista arrows at the Template:L, which are assumed to do less damage. The Template:Ls themselves are also built at the siege workshop, out of three siege engine parts made of Template:L.
Armor
Template:L can be forged from Template:L, Template:L, Template:L, Template:L or Template:L. Available armor types include:
- Template:L (3 bars)
- Template:L (2 bars)
- Template:L (2 bars)
- Template:L
- Template:L
- Template:L
- Template:L
- Template:Ls
- Template:Ls
- Template:L
- Template:L
Each piece of armor requires one metal bar to forge, except where noted.
Furniture
Template:L can forged from any metal other than Template:L. You can forge:
- Template:L
- Template:L (1 metal bar) (requires Template:L rather than Template:Ling)
- Template:L (1 metal bar)
- Template:L
- Template:L
- Metal Template:L (1 metal bar)
- Template:L
- Template:L
- Template:L
- Template:L
- Template:L
- Template:L
- Template:L
- Template:L
- Template:L
- Template:L
All metal furniture requires three Template:Ls to forge except where otherwise noted. The Template:L skill is used to create everything except chains (Template:L) and animal traps (Template:L).
In addition, three Template:Ls of Template:L or Template:L (or 9 Template:L wafers) can be used to forge Template:Ls (via the "Other Objects" menu), which are used in the construction of additional forges.
Finished goods
Other objects can be forged from all metals other than Template:L, using the Template:L skill. They are:
- Template:L
- Template:L
- Template:Ls
- Template:L
- Template:L
- Template:Ls
- Minted Template:Ls
- Template:L an item with metal
Each of the above objects requires one bar of metal to make, including studding. Like other Template:Ls (such as Template:L, Template:L or Template:L), you cannot specify which object to stud: the smith will generally take the nearest available object and stud it. Note that unlike all other metalsmithing operations, studding items does not require Template:L.[Verify]
Metal clothing
Template:L can be used to make anything, even lightweight Template:L. All the clothing items that can be made at the Template:L can be forged from adamantine if you have it.
