This article is about an older version of DF.

Magma men (similar to fire men) are very dangerous creatures made entirely of magma and are native to magma areas, but can occasionally spring forth to attack your metalsmiths. They are very hot and they have burning punches. They feel no pain and cannot bleed to death. Magma men have the Building Destroyer 2 tag, which means that doors, floodgates, and workshops are vulnerable to their rampage, potentially leading to disasterous magma floods.

When they die, they leave a chunk of obsidian usable by your masons or craftsdwarves.

Bugs[edit]

In version 0.23.130.23a, magma men die instantly upon being spawned, as the newly updated temperature behavior causes their obsidian bodies to melt away, leaving nothing but a glob on the floor for one of your dwarves to clean up (and possibly resulting in random Clean jobs being cancelled due to being inaccessible). This bug was fixed in version 0.27.169.32a, but the fix can be easily backported by editing the raws and removing "[MATERIAL:STONE_DARK:USE_SHARPSTONE]" and replacing "[HOMEOTHERM:12000]" with "[FIXED_TEMP:12000]".
