Mason's workshop

Masons are responsible for creating furniture and other objects out of stone in a mason's workshop.

Masonry is also required for building constructions (walls, floors, etc.) out of stone, stone blocks or glass blocks; this does not give any experience in masonry skill. Buildings made from stone or glass that require architecture (trade depots, archery targets, supports, bridges, all furnaces, etc.) do give experience in masonry to the mason who builds them (as well as experience in building designer to the architect). Paved roads made from stone or glass also give masonry experience to the dwarf who builds them, even though the masonry labor is not required to build roads.

As stone is plentiful in even the newest fort, and the tables, chairs and doors a mason can build are immediately desirable, any expedition should bring a mason along.
