The Hammerer is a noble which arrives with the Template:Baron. If your Template:Sheriff is busy, your Template:Jail is full, or a particularly heinous crime is comitted, the hammerer will deliver a series of hammerstrikes, most likely leading to death or serious injury for the criminal (most often a random metalsmith which couldn't satisfy a noble's Template:Mandate for Template:Slade earrings).
It is recommended that you either injure your Hammerer to the point where he can't dispense his vigilante brand of Dwarven Justice, replace his hammer with a almost-harmless Template:Adamantine one, or trap him in a room and dump food down a hole for him to eat. Killing your Hammerer outright will lead to another one arriving later[Verify].
Notes in the dwarf entity Template:RAWs suggest that ToadyOne plans on making the Hammerer's choice of Template:Weapon modifiable in the future.
