This article is about an older version of DF.

A mud man is a rare predatory aquatic creature found in the cave river. Being comprised of mud, they feel no pain, don't need to breathe, cannot bleed to death and, in short, must be killed the old-fashioned way, with brute force. They are not stopped by mere doors and are building destroyer 2's, so it is highly advisable to keep them away from your floodgates lest they break them down and flood your entire fortress. They are not as dangerous offensively as some similar creatures, but should not be approached lightly. Late-game mud man attacks can appear in groups of 5-10, so be careful once you see one!

Mud men leave a glob of mud when they die, which has no known use.
