This article is about an older version of DF. |
Furnace is an umbrella term for different Template:Ls that are used to heat materials, and that often produce only intermediary--products, items that are then used to create something else for the final product.
Every furnace must be built from Template:L materials and designed by a Template:L. It can be powered by Template:L or, in the case of magma furnaces, by the heat from Template:L - if the latter, they do not consume the magma, merely must be over it. Magma furnaces must be placed with one of their edge tiles above magma with depth of 4 or more; this can be accomplished by digging a channel for the magma, or hanging it directly over open Template:L.
All these are constructed using the Furnaces submenu (via b, e ).
See main articles for a full discussion, esp of magma versions.
Template:L
- Shortcut: b, e, w
- Materials used: Template:L
- Items made: Template:L, Template:L
- Feeds into: fuel for other furnaces, Template:L making, Template:L and Template:L production
- Shortcut: b, e, w
Template:L
- Shortcut: b, e, s
- Materials used: Template:L, Template:L, Template:L, Template:L Template:Ls, Template:L, Template:L (and metal objects to be Template:Led)
- Items made: Template:L, metal Template:Ls
- Feeds into: Template:Ls
Template:L

Magma versions use Template:L or Template:L for Template:L and Template:L production only. If the magma source fails, they cannot be powered by Template:L.

Magma glass furnaces must be powered by magma, and thus require no additional Template:L. Produces same objects as a regular Glass Furnace.
Template:L
- Shortcut: b, e, k

- Items made: Template:L, Template:L and Template:L
- Feeds into: pearlash for higher quality Template:L production
- Plaster powder is a final product used by healthcare professionals.
- Ceramic/clay (earthenware, stoneware, and porcelain) items are final products.
Template:L
- Shortcut: b, e, n
Functions just like a regular kiln, but must be powered by magma instead of Template:L.
