A champion is an appointed noble position which becomes available after a fortress becomes a barony. They have no room requirements. The Champion will not be able to be assigned any work labors anymore and instead focuses on his new noble job. The Champion is akin to a champion of culture that promotes the values of the civilization and seeks to encourage the denizens of the fort.
The Champion will perform a noble job during which the Dwarves that talk to the Champion will get a special thought about "talking to a pillar of society", with the happiness bonus or penalty depending on the dwarf's liberalism.
