This article is about an older version of DF. |
The Craftsdwarf's workshop is used to make crafts of almost all kinds. It can be built from any construction material and must be built by a dwarf with the Bone Carving, Stonecrafting, or Woodcrafting labors enabled.
The craftdwarf's workshop is the cornerstone of trade in Dwarf Fortress. The crafts made have little purpose other than to be traded for food, alcohol, weapons, and other goods. These craft goods can also be decorated with bone, pearl, horn, ivory, or shells to increase their value.
As well, this workshop can be used to make bone and shell armor, training bolts from wood and bone, and to extract strands of adamantine for later use.
Notes
- For shell, ivory, tooth, horn, and pearl[Verify], the Bone Carving labor is required. Other materials require their respective labors.
- Metal crafts are made at a Metalsmith's forge. You can, however, short circuit the process by having a stockpile of gold nuggets or silver nuggets nearby, enable the appropriate nugget use in the z Stone menu and make stone crafts at the Craftsdwarf's Workshop
- Other cloth and leather items are made at a Clothier's shop or Leather works, respectively.
