This article is about an older version of DF.

The broker noble arrives once you have exported at least 500☼ worth of goods to a caravan. This trigger also permits caravans from your nearby Human and Elf civilizations to visit your fortress.

Once you have a broker, the status screen will begin to display your Imported Wealth and Exported Wealth statistics. You will also be able to see item values when trading, allowing you to strike much more favorable deals with foreign merchants. Furthermore, the presence of the broker will also cause your neighboring human civilization to send its guild representative so that you can establish trade agreements for subsequent years.

Once the manager and bookkeeper have also arrived, you will become eligible to receive a baron.
