Hens which claim a nest box will regularly lay between 10 and 14 eggs, which can then be collected by a dwarf with the food hauling labor. If a turkey gobbler is present, and the eggs are forbidden before they are gathered, the eggs may be fertilized and eventually hatch into poults, which will grow into adults in 1 year.

Turkeys are a better food source than chickens due to their larger size, which provides more meat and other products when butchered. Turkeys take two years to reach their full weight, while the slightly smaller blue peafowl and geese take only one year. On average, turkey hens will lay the most eggs of any domestic poultry. This makes them a good choice for egg production. Be careful, though, as framerate can be negatively impacted by plentiful pathing poults.
