Images where the original artist has been contacted
- File:Injured_dwarf.jpg, used in injury: credits ADHadh, the original artwork is this on DeviantArt. The artist has been contacted and he has responded.
- File:Criminal dwarf.jpg, used in criminal: credits Terry Colligan, likely because of this Pinterest post, but he is not the creator. Using reverse image search it turns out the image is older than that, the original artist being KaRzA-76, this being the original source (on DeviantArt). The artist has been contacted.
- File:Dwarf_thinking.jpg, used in critical thinker: credits Falisia, the original artwork is this on DeviantArt. The artist has been contacted.
- File:Dwarf_horse.jpg, used in mount: credits alarie-tano, the original artwork is this on DeviantArt. The artist has been contacted.
- File:Dwarf_builder.jpg, used in carpenter: credits RDMP, but the original artist is Jon Hodgson, the original artwork is this on DeviantArt. The artist has been contacted.

- File:Infected_ghoul.jpg, used in infected ghoul: credits Jeff Butler, who turns out to be a comic artist. The original artwork is here on his website. The artist has been contacted and he has ordered removal of the file.
- File:Kakapo_man.jpg, used in kakapo man: credits alymccart, the original artwork is this on DeviantArt. (the artist uses a different handle, but is the credited person)¨
- File:Giant_walrus.jpg, used in giant walrus: credits StapleArt, the original artwork is this on DeviantArt.

- File:Dwarf_war.jpg, used in war: credits Shabzik, the original artwork is this on DeviantArt by Shabazik. The creator has responded some kind of license might have been given, though they aren't sure which.
- File:Champ_dwarf.jpg, used in champion: credits Shabazik (the same as above), the original artwork is this on DeviantArt. The creator has responded.
- File:Elephant_seal_man.jpg: credits Carl Schlesinger, the original artwork is this on their ArtStation. The artist has been contacted on DeviantArt.
- File:Embark_prev.jpg: credits CB129, the original artwork is this on DeviantArt.
- File:Oops1.jpg, used in flood: credits Darnat-D, not the original artist but a person who put the original art in a favorites album. This is possibly why the image is low-quality, it is the album thumbnail. The original artwork is this on DeviantArt, by kennydalman.
- File:Giant_cave_toad.jpg: not credited, but it is by Kruggsmash, the original artwork is this on DeviantArt. There being multiple artworks of his uploaded by Zippy, I asked the question in regards to all of them here.
- File:Crundle_preview.jpg, used in crundle: credits Kruggsmash, the original artwork is this on DeviantArt. See giant cave toad above.
- File:Nightmare_creature.jpg, used in nightmare: credits jlcseiles, who turns out to be John L C Seiles, this tweet or his Artstation page being the original source. The artist has been contacted through messaging at ArtStation. He has responded, and said it's fine. The nightmare image can stay here.
- File:Dwarf_ranger.jpg, used in ranger: credits Felipe Pagliuso, the original artwork is found here on Artstation (scrolling down a little). The artist has been contacted.
- File:Werewolf_preview.png: Original by Nightenscythe on DeviantArt, reuploaded at pngfind.com licensed for "personal use only". "Personal use" is an ambiguous term, use on non-commercial wiki may or may not be personal use. Claimed license on DFWiki is different. The artist has been contacted.
- File:Deity_preview.jpg (on this wiki on page deity), is JasonEngle's art made for Monte Cook Games Invisible Sun. The artist has been contacted.
- File:Dwarf_monk.jpg, used in martial trance, original art by The-Fronti on DeviantArt. Supposedly uploaded with permission from the creator to use only on the Dwarf Fortress Wiki. The artist has been contacted.
- File:Plump_helmet_man.jpg: credits Max Verehin, who has the original artwork on their ArtStation. The artist has been contacted.
- File:Dragonprev.png: credits Olivtree, who is on DeviantArt. The artist has been contacted.
Images where the original artist has not been contacted
- File:Giant_rat.jpg, used in giant rat, has apparently originally appeared in Wizards of the Coast's Monster Manual for Dungeons and Dragons fourth edition, based on Forgotten Realms wiki. No artist attributed, even though it is uploaded with Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license.
- File:Tapir_man.jpg: credits bionictoast, the source is seemingly this reddit post.
- File:Kestrel_woman.png, used in kestrel man: credits Kaivris, and the original artwork is seemingly this on reddit by a redditor of the same name. Unclear whether it is the same person as this kaivris.
- File:Louse_man.jpg: credits Bogdan Padalko, who has the original artwork on their ArtStation.
- File:Giant_Badger.jpg: original artwork made by Christopher Burdett for Paizo Publishing's Pathfinder Companion: Gnomes of Golarion.
- File:Magma_crab.png: credits Piper.t, by art and signature I am quite sure Cryptid Creations on DeviantArt is the original artist. As their oldest art on the account is from 2012, it is probably this piece was made before that and thus not visible.
- File:Necromancer_tower.jpg, used in Tower (necromancy): credits James Morgan. This is the probable original artwork on ArtStation, but strangely the images are not quite the same.
- File:Giant_olm.jpg: credits Michael Brissie, this is the original artwork.
- File:Beak_dog_killed.jpeg, used in beak dog: credits Kruggsmash, the original artwork is this Patreon reward. While a general question was asked to Kruggsmash about his art (see giant cave toad above), this being a Patreon reward it should be asked about specifically.
- File:Red-currant.jpg (photo), used in fisher berry. Credits Inhabitat website, which is presumably this. Actual author is Tatiana Volgutova on Shutterstock. Claimed license cc-by-sa-3.0 is almost certainly incorrect.
- File:Stone_layers_prev.jpg (photo) is from Terry Reimink on Dreamstime (the image even has the watermark on). Claims Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike 3.0, which is almost certainly incorrect.
- File:Dwarf_army2.jpg credits conorburkeart, who is on DeviantArt, but who has seemingly deleted all their art somewhat recently. Claimed license is cc-by-sa-3.0, but as the original artwork page isn't available, this can't be checked.
- File:Iron_hatch_cover.jpg (photo) is from the manufacturers website. Claimed license is Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike 3.0, but no-one is attributed. On original website, only copyright notice is Copyright © 2021 EJ Group, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
- File:Diamonds_many_colors.jpg (photo): geology.com uses the picture with a permission from IBD Fancy Colors LLC. Claimed license on wiki is Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike 3.0 , but there is no attribution.
- File:Metamorphic_layer.jpg (photo): According to National Geographic, the author is James L. Amos. Claimed license is cc-by-sa-3.0, but there is no attribution. On National Geographics website, only copyright notice is © 1996 - 2021 National Geographic Society. All rights reserved.
Unknown original artist
- File:Dwarf_justice.png, used in justice: credits gustav_black, but this seemingly is just a redditor who has at some time used/posted the image. The original source could not be found even using reverse search engines.
- File:Mouse_man.jpg, used in rodent man. No artist credited.
- File:Animal_people_prev.jpg, used in animal people. No artist credited. The image is spread across the Internet, and other people outside this wiki also mention the fact that the original artist can't be found.
- File:Large_rat.png, used in large rat. No artist attributed, even though it is uploaded with Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike 3.0 license.
- File:Gray_parrot_man.jpg, previously used on grey parrot man, and credited Kitty Eva'ros, though this track seemingly only leads to a Pinterest user of the same name with a bird-person album, and Pinterest accounts are seldom sources. The image does not appear on tineye reverse search engine.
- File:Recluse_spider_man.jpg: credits Jim-Cacclabando-Jr, but neither this person or the source of this picture could be found.
- File:Dwarf_temple.jpg, found in temple: credits Kim Sung Min. The only thing I could find on this was this Pinterest post, by image searching "dwarf temple". Kim Sung Min may or may not be the name of the original artist, it also being the name of an actor makes the search difficult.
- File:Pickaxe_transparent.png (photo) claims Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license, yet doesn't attribute anyone. The image appears a lot on different websites, at least from 2012, but no author is seemingly ever credited.
Possibly fine
File:Molemarian.jpg, artist is 호우자 on twitter. Supposedly uploaded with permission from the creator to use only on the Dwarf Fortress Wiki. The artist has not been contacted.
