A male monarch is known as a "king" and a female as a "queen". Either may arrive with an opposite gendered "king consort" or "queen consort", as well as an entourage that can include elite military dwarves and ordinary workers. Unlike previous versions, the monarch will no longer come upon the discovery of adamantine.[Verify]
You may check how close you are to meeting the requirements for a monarch's arrival by pressing n c after you have become a Metropolis. This option does not appear on the Nobles screen before then.
