Wikipedia article

This article is about an older version of DF.
A large Template:L, maned herbivore. They can run swiftly and many are domesticated as steeds.

Horses are Template:Ls, and can often be seen in Template:Ls pulling Template:Ls. In addition to producing a large amount of Template:L, Template:L and Template:Ls when Template:Led, horses can also be Template:L and serve as a viable base for a Template:L industry. Template:L cannot ride horses, but Template:Ls and Template:L can.

Horses can be bought before embarking, but are quite expensive. Horses are sometimes brought along by Template:L, as Template:Ls or strays. Horses also occur very often as wild animals in herds. They are non-aggressive and will avoid dwarves, but an inexperienced Template:L who engages them in melee will soon find out that they are much bigger than dwarves. As they appear quite frequently and in numbers, they are ideal targets for hunting and military practice, being also a good source of butchering products.
