Wikipedia article

This article is about an older version of DF.
A very small mammal with short legs and a long tail. It hunts small animals to eat.

Mongooses are small creatures found in tropical shrublands and savannas, where they appear one at a time. While carnivorous, they're timid and benign as well as smaller than your average cat, making them harmless to a dwarf or just about anything. A newborn mongoose is called a pup.

Mongooses can be captured in cage traps and trained into low-value exotic pets. They give a low amount of returns if butchered, making them subpar in a meat industry; there are far better options available.

Some dwarves like mongooses for their cunning and their agility.

Admired for its cunning.
