Wikipedia article

This article is about an older version of DF.
Not to be confused with sloth bears.
A small, slow-moving mammal that lives in the trees.

Sloths are rare solitary animals found in tropical forests. They are only slighty bigger than your average cat and are entirely benign, being harmless to dwarves or just about anything. As expected, they move extremely slowly, moving at the near minimal gait speed of the game. All sloths are born with Legendary skill in climbing.

Sloths can be captured in cage traps and trained into exotic pets. Their small size translates to a low amount of returns when they're butchered, making them a bad choice for livestock.

Some dwarves like sloths for their slow movement.
