A large spotted feline predator. It is capable of incredible speed when ambushing its prey.

Cheetahs are large predators in tropical flatlands that roam as solitary hunters. They will avoid dwarves for the most part, unless dwarves seek them out.

Captured cheetahs can be tamed and kept as exotic pets, or trained for hunting or war. Tame cheetahs may also be acquired by trading with the elves. Cheetahs can serve as lucrative breeding stock for a meat industry, as cheetah butchering returns are worth three times as much as those of common domestic animals.

With the addition of the gait system in DF2014 the cheetah can now travel up to 120kph (~75mph).
