'''Olm men''' (and women) are aquatic and can, therefore, travel freely through the lakes of underground caverns.  Be careful about building underground [[well]]s near groups of these [[creature]]s as they have been known to use such openings in poorly designed well-rooms to find paths into unsuspecting fortresses.

Blowgun darts are, at least sometimes, poisoned. This is with a Giant Cave Spider venom coating. Further searching and testing is needed to know if the darts of other races are poisoned too and if the poison actually has an impact in combat

An animal person with the head of the amphibious olm. It lives underground near water.

Olm men are humanoid versions of the olm and one of the many underworld tribal races of animal people, living on any cavern level milling around piles of meat and tanned hides. They are stand at roughly half the size of an adult dwarf.

Approach with caution, unless the tribe is friendly. If the tribe is friendly, feel free to take advantage of them in fine imperialistic tradition and steal all their resources without compensation. To check whether a tribe of olm men is friendly, press u to view the unit list. The tribe will be labeled as either hostile or friendly. Alternatively, press v to view one of their profiles.

Like many underground races, the danger of olm men is not to be found in their wooden weapons, but in the substances found smeared on them. Olm men use many poisons, some of which can be deadly. They will launch group attacks on your fort, and have the ability to swim through your reservoirs and launch amphibious assaults on your fisherdwarves.

Some dwarves like olm men for their gills.
