This article is about the current version of DF.
A huge reptile, found in rivers and marshlands. It is an ambush predator, solitary and territorial.

Alligators are intimidating beasts found in temperate and tropical fresh waters. They are not tremendously aggressive, but will attack dwarves who venture foolishly close.

Alligator-derived products are worth three times as much as products from boring domestic animals, and alligators are large enough to provide a lot of products.

With an egg yield of 10 to 30 per clutch, Alligators are one of the best egg producing creatures for a fortress, and a tame group of 'gators may also serve as a credible threat to invaders. Some dwarves respect alligators for their strength.
