The alarm siren has only one very simple job: It can wake sleeping dwarves and cancels all breaks and parties. This allows your army to be ready for an attack. The reaction is free and can be run as often as you want, but mind that the loud noise and lack of sleep will cause bad thoughts.
Warning: you need DFHack to run the alarm siren! (This building uses the siren script provided by dfhack)
