Adventurer mode

Eagle men are playable as of v.42.06.

Notably, as a winged creature, you can change z-levels in much the same way as a terrestrial creature ascends stairways, using the '<' key to move up one z-level and the '>' key to move down one z-level (if there's empty space below you). This is obviously quite useful for many things, such as traversing rivers, scaling mountains, and escaping from hairy situations.

Most armors are too large for them to wear, so a fair amount of skill in Dodging is recommended.
