A huge monster shaped like a pond turtle.

Giant pond turtles are much larger versions of pond turtles your fisherdwarves gather in large quantities. Like their smaller cousins, giant pond turtles possess shells, which they can retract into when threatened.

Due to murky pools only being able to spawn vermin, giant pond turtles currently cannot be encountered in any game mode, similarly to the giant damselfly. Theoretically, giant pond turtles might also serve as mounts during a siege, however no pool-dwelling civilization exists to ride them into battle.

If giant pond turtles could be encountered, they would be a decent source of shells and meat.

Some dwarves like giant pond turtles for their shells.
