Wikipedia article

This article is about the current version of DF.
Note that some content may still need to be updated.

A small mammal with a leathery hide. It can roll into a ball to escape predators.

A small, mundane creature, armadillos are infrequent and appear just one at a time. They take 2 years to reach full size, and will live to be 10 to 15 years of age. Males are called boars, and females are called sows. It may take a while to establish a breeding program; however, it may be useful for their shells in areas that are not safe, or have no water to fish in. An armadillo can and will curl up into a ball if threatened. In this state, they will neither move nor attack, making them similar to a giant tortoise that has retracted into it's shell.

Admired for its thick, bony armor plates.
