Wikipedia article

This article is about the current version of DF.
Note that some content may still need to be updated.

A small, brightly-colored snake. It is known for eating other snakes and being mistaken for its venomous cousins.

Kingsnakes are small, harmless animals that will occaisoinally wonder onto the map alone. The do not yeild much meat or bones when butchered, are not particularly valuable pets, and do not have a crippling venom to unleash on your enemies like some other snakes. They do, however, lay a decent amount of eggs per clutch and may be used to start an egglaying industry.

In Real Life

As mentioned in the creature description, many kingsnake species are known for their striped colouration which imitates that of the poisonous coral snake. To help distinguish between the two simple rhymes like 'red on yellow, kill a fellow' and 'red on black, venom lack' are often used.
