This article is about the current version of DF.
Note that some content may still need to be updated.

For other kinds of snake men see adder man, anaconda man, black mamba man, bushmaster man, copperhead snake man, kingsnake man, python man, and rattlesnake man.

A large white snake with the arms and torso of a man. These creatures are evil and live far underground.

Serpent men, like most subterranean animal men, form small camps in underground caverns. They can be found on any cavern layer. Unlike other animal men, they have a venomous bite that will quickly cause a syndrome that paralyzes any dwarves, likely causing them to die of suffocation shortly afterwards. However, as long as serpent men are armed, they will always use their weapons instead of biting.

While described by the game as "evil", they lack the [EVIL] tag or anything else that would peg them as evil, excepted maybe for the LIKES_FIGHTING tag, although this is hardly an evil trait. But everyone knows that snakes are evil.

If you ssspeak to a ssserpent man in adventure mode, they will talk like thisss, becaussse of the [LISP] tag.
