This article is about the current version of DF.
Note that some content may still need to be updated.

Magma moving in the shape of a man. It has a cracked black crust.

Magma men (similar to fire men) are dangerous inorganic creatures and are native to magma areas, but can wander outside of them. Their hot temperature has the interesting effect of actually drying up water if they are submerged in it. Being composed of magma and rock, they feel no pain and cannot bleed to death. Magma men have the Building Destroyer 2 tag, which means that doors, hatches, bars, and other similar constructions are vulnerable to their rampage. Some dwarves admire them "for their flowing movement."

Magma men are composed of an inner liquid basalt core (which is to say, magma) and an outer, solid obsidian layer. As a result, they are much more durable than fire imps and especially fire men and their natural attacks are dangerous. They do not breathe fire or magma in any form, though.

When they die they leave a usable chunk of obsidian instead of any carcass, although when you consider their rarity, there are much better sources of obsidian around.
