Gazelles provide a decent amount of meat and aren't particularly dangerous compared to other animals, thus they are great for hunting or military practice. They also provide hooves, horns, and teeth and are great for bone carvers as well. However, unlike a goat, they will not provide milk. Gazelles require a pasture if tamed.

Wikipedia article

This article is about the current version of DF.
Note that some content may still need to be updated.

A small hooved creature found in large groups in the grasslands. It has short horns and moves by leaps and bounds.

Gazelles are small animals who live in tropical savannas and grasslands, where they appear in herds of 5-10 individuals. They are benign herbivores, smaller even than dogs, who spend their time meandering about aimlessly, vulnerable to any hunter or squad who wants to make target practice out of them, and they'll rarely fight back if confronted. A newborn gazelle is named a fawn.

Gazelles can be captured in cage traps and trained into exotic pets. They can be butchered for products equivalents to a goat, which includes horns, hooves and teeth. Trained gazelles are grazers, and therefore require a constant source of grass to survive.

Some dwarves like gazelles for their grace.

Admired for its grace.
