Wikipedia article

This article is about the current version of DF.
Note that some content may still need to be updated.

A large ape which lives in the tropical forests. It is quite intelligent and lives in large and complex social groups.

Bonobos are dwarf-sized apes that roam some tropical biomes. Appearing in clusters of five to ten, they are fairly run of the mill jungle creatures who avoid dwarves for the most part. Their body parts are of basic value, but like most monkeys they have a high pet value of 500, making them very worthwhile animal training targets. Bonobo children take two years to grow to full size, and ten years to reach adulthood. Curiously, Bonobos have a [SWIM_LEARNED] tag in their creature tokens, but no [CAN_LEARN], so swimming bonobos are largely a theoretical concept.

Admired for their antics.
