Wikipedia article

This article is about the current version of DF.
Note that some content may still need to be updated.

A large long-necked creature with a large hump on its sturdy body. It has been domesticated to carry passengers and cargo but is nonetheless bad-tempered and will spit.

Not to be confused with the two-humped camel.

One-humped camels (or Dromedaries) are sand colored herbivores, living in deserts. They can be bought at embark, and may be used as pack animals by merchants. As prolific grazers, one-humped camels require a large pasture to survive. Female one-humped camels produce milk, which can be cooked or processed into cheese. One-humped camel calves need two years to grow to their full adult size, and they only live for a maximum of 10-20 years.

Admired for its hump.
