This article is about the current version of DF.
Note that some content may still need to be updated.

A large, four-armed ape creature with three eyes and razor-sharp teeth.

An ominous, hooting, three-eyed, four-armed creature that preys on unwary adventurers. In spite of the description, stranglers are smaller than a dwarf and should not pose too great a threat to an experienced fighter. Encounters are rare, as they appear only in evil tropical forests. They seem to have a liking for strangling adventurers resting in such areas, which is quite fitting.

Despite being smaller than an adult sheep, stranglers produce twice the butchering returns, at twice the value, making them well-worth harvesting if they appear near your fortress. Though they cannot be tamed, some dwarves still express a preference for strangler's resounding hoots, graceful leaps, toothy maw, or three eyes.
