Wikipedia article

This article is about the current version of DF.
Note that some content may still need to be updated.

A medium-sized beast, known for its tusks and powerful build.

Wild boars are creatures closely related to pigs, however rather more dangerous. In real life, wild boars will usually charge an opponent and attempt to gore them with their tusks. Oddly, wild boars in dwarf fortress are not able to gore opponents in this manner and will generally flee from combat.

They share with pigs the key attribute of not being grazers. Thus, when tamed, wild boars can be safely stored in cages and small pastures. They can be bred as livestock for a meat industry, where they will also supply ivory for your craftsdwarves.

Admired for their tusks and their ferocious charges.
