Wikipedia article

This article is about the current version of DF.
Note that some content may still need to be updated.

A small myriapod, though very large for a myriapod. It feeds on detritus.

The Arthropleura is a large, extinct millipede from the Carboniferous period, found in savage temperate freshwater swamps and marshes, as well as savage temperate broadleaf and coniferous forests. As with all real-world extinct creatures, their spawning depends on settings chosen during world creation.

Arthropleuras, despite their creature description calling them small, can grow to be very large, with their maximum size being equivalent to that of a cheetah or a gorlak. Despite their size, arthropleuras are benign and generally pose no threat to dwarves. Like most arthropods, arthropleuras are covered in chitin and are filled with ichor.

Arthropleuras have a decent pet value of 100. Although they are tagged as not butcherable, this tag has no effect on slaughtering, (possibly a bug or oversight) so they can still be used as a source of food if tamed. They cannot be trained for war or hunting.
