- A huge hairless mammal with a great shovel-like mouth capped with two tusks. It has a long trunk and two small upper tusks as well.
Platybelodons are large prehistoric creatures from the Cenozoic era. They are similar in appearance to their relatives, elephants (which are considerably larger). They are found in various savage temperate biomes, appearing in herds of 3-7. They are benign grazers. While extinct in real life, their appearance is dependent on the settings chosen when creating a world. A young platybelodon is called a calf.
Platybelodons can be captured in cage traps and trained into exotic pets. They can be further trained into war beasts with a similar strength and growth rate to rhinoceroses and elephants. These same reasons also make them a good choice for a meat industry. Platybelodons reach their full size after 5 years and become adults at 10.
Platybelodons may appear with caravans as pack animals or with sieges as exotic mounts.
