Wikipedia article

This article is about the current version of DF.
Note that some content may still need to be updated.

A large reptile with a thick ridged shell. It has been known to consume snakes and smaller turtles, and its bite can amputate fingers.

Alligator snapping turtles are big cousins of pond turtles and little relatives of alligators. They can be found in temperate lakes and rivers in large populations, but only appear individually. When fully grown, they are larger than an alpaca, and live for 30-70 years. Alligator snapping turtles can serve as a source for eggs and shells, though they cannot be bred for a sustainable supply.

Admired for their long necks and vicious bites
